From April 25th to July 22nd, Ginza Maison Hermès Forum will be hosting "Adjectives for Your Existence," Paris-based artist Mircea Cantor's first solo exhibition in Japan.

Mircea Cantor was born in Romania in 1977. Using a distinctive poetic style, he creates photographs, sculptures, videos, and installations that, through modest gestures, call attention to the complexity and uncertainty of the everyday world. He has attracted international attention with works such as "The landscape is changing" (2003), which filmed people marching through Tirana, the capital of Albania, holding large mirrors in place of slogans, and "Deeparture" (2005), a video piece that released a pair of deer and wolves into a pure white space, observing the precarious tension between animals isolated from nature.

This exhibition, his first solo exhibition in Japan, will feature new works inspired by the "transparency" of the glass blocks at Maison Hermès in Ginza. As a continuation of the aforementioned "The landscape is changing," the video captures people marching with transparent placards in various locations around Tokyo. Also on display is an installation combining dozens of aluminum bells and glass screens. The resonating bells and silence, like a gust of wind, evoke invisible memories and emotions, creating a transparent vibration within us.

Through these works, Mircea Cantor poses simple questions about the words we use to describe our existence, which is unconsciously bound by the power of "transparent things" such as rules, customs, and authority. Come and experience the poetic world he weaves at the venue.
