Ladurée's first free-standing store in Japan will open in Aoyama/Omotesando on March 22nd.

Ladurée is known worldwide for its pastel colors and artistic beauty inspired by Versailles. Japan's first free-standing store, the "Salon de Thé," is the work of Paris-based architect and designer India Mahdavi.
India's previous boutiques and salons, which opened on Quai des Bergues in Geneva, Switzerland in 2016 and North Beverly Drive in Los Angeles in 2017, have both been highly praised as "unique spaces that can only be found here." For her new Aoyama store, India envisioned Marie Antoinette. It's a space straight out of a fairy tale, depicting Marie Antoinette's encounter with the charming chic of Tokyo. The spacious interior, with 60 seats in the salon (12 on the terrace), features a pop-inspired white latticework on the walls, accented with floral-motif lighting. The furniture and decorative lighting designed for this space pay homage to gastronomy and gentleness. Luxurious fan-shaped benches, tables resembling twisted candy sticks, a graphic gray and white marble floor, blown-glass lamps complementing the celadon-green walls, and meringue-like ceiling lights... This exquisitely elegant space invites you into the mystical world of India Mahdavi.
India says, "I want this space to be a place where you can feel joy. The essence of Ladurée is connected to 'enjoyment' - the encounter between elegance and fine cuisine. I wanted to bring French elements to Tokyo and create a space where you can experience both Frenchness and innovation."
In addition to Ladurée's standard menu items, the store will also be selling limited-edition items to commemorate the opening of the Aoyama store. There will be one type each of patisserie, macarons, and macaron boxes, and details will be released on March 20th.
