In the iconic large atrium space at the center of the Ginza Six building, French artist Daniel Buren, who has been active on the world stage for over 50 years, has created a new installation that will become the new face of Ginza. A total of 1,500 of his trademark 8.7cm red and blue striped flags will adorn the atrium. The opening installation "Pumpkin" by avant-garde artist Yayoi Kusama, which has been a beloved artwork symbolizing the museum since its opening, will remain on display until March 21st. His work will also be seen in the streets of Ginza, taking over Chuo-dori, the museum's main thoroughfare, stretching approximately 1,100 meters in length. Ninety flags, linked to an installation in the central atrium of Ginza Six, will adorn the streets from April 2nd to May 6th.

In 1986, he represented France at the Venice Biennale, where he won the Golden Lion. He received the Praemium Imperiale in 2007 (Painting category). In recent years, he made waves when he took over the architecture of the Fondation Louis Vuitton, a museum designed by Frank Gehry, in 2016. The "GINZA SIX Takigi Noh Special Performance" will be held on the rooftop of the GINZA SIX Garden for the first time, providing a venue for visitors to immerse themselves in the world of Kanze Noh, the largest school of Noh. The May 4th performance will feature Kanze Kiyokazu (the 26th head of the Kanze school). The same day will also see the "GINZA SIX Parent-Child Noh Experience Class," where visitors can experience the traditional Japanese performing art of Noh up close. This hands-on workshop allows parents and children to experience Noh chanting and dancing together, even handling masks.

Contemporary Artist Miu Komatsu
To commemorate the first anniversary, the stores within the building will be offering limited-edition products and collaborating with domestic and international artists and brands to hold special events and exhibitions. At OKANO on the fourth floor, contemporary artist Miu Komatsu will be holding a "Miu Komatsu GINZA SIX 1st Anniversary Commemorative Live Painting" event to celebrate the first anniversary. During the first anniversary event, the store on the 4th floor will also be selling a limited edition "Gotoku Komainu" tapestry, which depicts Komatsu's Komainu design in OKANO's Saga Nishikiori weaving.

DELVAUX on the 2nd floor will be holding a "live drawing" event on April 29th and 30th by Valentin de Cote, who is responsible for the brand's scarf designs and illustrations for product information booklets. A one-of-a-kind illustration will be created on the spot, tailored to each individual's lifestyle, hobbies, family composition, etc., and presented as a gift. Ginza Tsutaya Bookstore on the 6th floor will be hosting an art event themed on "Japanese design" from mid- to late April. In addition to selling books and items selected by concierges in various fields, talk events are also planned.

World Footwear Gallery
At the Leica GINZA SIX store on the 5th floor, works taken with Leica by various photographers will be exhibited and sold every 3 to 6 months. Works by Kashiwagi Ryoma will be on display from March 20th. The World Footwear Gallery, also on the 5th floor, will be holding an exhibition focusing on artists and artisans under the theme of "COLOR" from April 2nd to May 6th. Artworks on display include genuine paintings by Yayoi Kusama (not prints) and works by her late former partner, Joseph Cornell, which will also be available for purchase through bidding. Additionally, the artisan display will feature custom-made men's shoes dyed by Japan's leading leather shoe dyer, artistic women's shoes crafted by custom-made shoemakers, and lacquered heels in a variety of colors. Customers will also be able to order these items.

To commemorate the first anniversary of the store's opening, limited-edition special products from world-class quality brands will be available. In addition to fashion items, limited-edition products from a variety of brands, including lifestyle, beauty, and gourmet brands, will be on sale.

CARVEN
A limited-edition pop-up shop will also be open during this period. From March 28th to May 1st, CARVEN on the 3rd floor will host a pop-up shop for the new CARVEN, which welcomed Serge Ruffieux as creative director for the 2018 Spring/Summer collection. Canvas tote bags featuring playful and humorous patchwork prints, including floral bird prints, palm prints, and stripes, will be available in Ginza Six-exclusive colors. On the 4th floor, Clé de Peau Beauté will open a pop-up store titled "A Radiant Day" from March 28th to May 1st, where customers can find the perfect lip products to empower themselves for any occasion and mood. Personalized lip products in special boxes will also be available as gifts. Limited-time pop-up stores will be open at Qonfection on the 2nd basement floor from April 3rd to 29th, at STATE OF ESCAPE on the 3rd floor, and at Heather Brown Gallery on the 4th floor from May 2nd to 29th.

One year after opening, Ginza Six has established itself as a new landmark in the cultural hub of "Ginza." Now in its second year, the facility will continue to create opportunities for people to experience art up close and deliver high-quality experiences that can only be found here.
