[Music Journey—How to Use Spotify—Vol. 6] In this sixth installment, we'll explain the "communication features" that let you enjoy Spotify with friends.
By "communication features," we don't mean messaging. Instead, Spotify offers features that let you see what music your friends are listening to, easily share songs, and foster conversations on social media and in real life.
You've probably had the experience of deepening your communication with others through music, or deepening your appreciation for music through communication with others. Spotify also functions as a tool to facilitate these experiences more conveniently and smoothly. We encourage you to use it in your everyday music communication!
1. Friend Activity
By following friends, you can see what music and playlists your friends are listening to right from your desktop (PC). Of course, you can also instantly access those songs and playlists. You might even discover something unexpected about your friends!
Note: To see what your friends are listening to, your Spotify account must be connected to Facebook.
To follow friends, on desktop, go to the bottom of "Friends Activity" on the right side. On smartphones, go to "My Library" > tap their profile picture.

2. Share Function

You can easily share your favorite songs and playlists on social media. Simply tap "..." on the song or playlist and select "Share." You can then share it with a comment on Twitter, Facebook, LINE, and other platforms from the app.
When you find great music or a playlist, be sure to share it! You might even make a new friend with a common interest.
3. Spotify Code
This is a useful feature for more real-life communication.
Available on smartphones, Spotify offers "Spotify Codes" for all songs and playlists. Display this code from "..." and scan it in the other person's Spotify app to instantly access a specific song or playlist.
When you find yourself in a conversation like, "What's that song playing now?" or "Is there any good music out there lately?", you can easily introduce your friend to them by simply showing them this code.
You can also save the code as an image, so you can print it out and hand it out at events.
