
On the 21st, an installation commemorating the publication of the latest issue of New York-based art visual magazine "VISIONAIRE" was held at DOVER STREET MARKET GINZA. It will run until July 17th. A media preview was held the day before, and Cecilia Dean, one of the founders, visited Japan.
The latest issue, "VISIONAIRE 63 FOREVER," was produced and published in collaboration with "G-SHOCK," a watch brand celebrating its 30th anniversary. Inspired by the watch's themes of "toughness" and "eternity that continues to tick away time," the editorial theme was "FOREVER." Every page is made of metal (stainless steel) plates. This issue features 10 impressive artists, including model Kate Moss, photographer Mario Testino, designer Karl Lagerfield, and artist Yoko Ono. "I chose artists who empathize with the theme of toughness, using the strong material metal," says Cecilia. The venue was completely metallic, with fixtures and displays wrapped in aluminum foil and silver balloons floating in the air. Cecilia, wearing a similar silver top, said, "At our anniversary party held at the New York Clock Tower in May, we also wrapped the furniture, lighting, cups, and even the stairs in aluminum foil. I couldn't help but laugh when I saw the metal detector at the entrance (laughs). I wanted to create a similar display in Tokyo." Back issues featuring Comme des Garçons, Louis Vuitton, Hermès, Tom Ford, and more are also on display and for sale. The magazine has collaborated with a variety of leading fashion houses to date. "It's important for a brand to have a strong personality. I want to work with brands that have a strong sense of originality," says Cecilia.
G-SHOCK's 30th anniversary special model and its top-of-the-line MR-G model are also on display and for sale.
Visionaire is a quarterly magazine published about three times a year that was founded in 1991 in New York by photographer Stephan Gan, model Cecilia Dean, and makeup artist James Kaliardos. Each issue has a different theme.
