Chanel Ginza Namiki has been renovated! Japan's first treatment salon, "Le Salon Beaute," also opens

Nov 17, 2017
CHANEL Ginza Namiki, Japan's first street-level store, opened in 1994 and is finally reopening on December 1st after nearly three years of renovation. To celebrate the reopening, the store will be introducing exclusive items from the 2017-18 Cruise Collection: four handbags and one clutch bag.

The boutique, located on Ginza Namiki-dori, a street brimming with historic charm and luxury, was designed by architect Peter Marino, who has a long association with the Maison and is renowned for his captivating expression of the brand's codes. Each floor will have its own key color, incorporating Chanel's signature colors of black, white, and beige, as well as gold. The nine-story building combines elegance and boldness from the exterior to the interior, a design that is truly symbolic of Chanel. The facade is decorated with panels that feature a distinctive contrast between matte black and white, and to commemorate the opening, artwork by Shuji Mukai, an artist active both in Japan and abroad, will be displayed for a limited time. The first floor will be dedicated to bags and accessories, the second floor to shoes and accessories, the third floor to ready-to-wear, bags and watches, and the fourth floor to the latest ready-to-wear collection. In addition, the eighth floor will house Japan's first treatment salon, "Le Salon Beaute," and the ninth floor will house "Le Salon Privé," which can be used for private appointments and special events. In addition, in keeping with the philosophy of founder Gabrielle Chanel, who had a deep knowledge of art, a selection of works by international artists, including bronze reliefs by Anthony Pearson, ink paintings by Heinz Mack, and works by Gregor Hildebrandt and Lawrence Carroll, will be exhibited in front of the elevators on each floor from the first to the fourth.

The limited-edition items include the classic 11.12 style handbag and clutch bag. Crafted from delicate and lightweight raffia, the design evokes Gabrielle Chanel's beloved ears of wheat. The gold bags evoke the "Greek Nature" theme of the Cruise Collection, and are adorned with colorful owl charms, a symbol of wisdom in Greek mythology.

The black viscose handbags are adorned with a gold double-C clasp and chain, colors that are symbolic of the brand. Utilizing the craftsmanship and know-how of embroidery atelier Lesage, the two handbags are masterpieces that represent the pinnacle of handwork, with intricate motifs expressed in earth tones.

"Chain Bag" (355,000 yen), "Clutch Bag" (186,000 yen), "Chain Bag" (620,000 yen), "Chain Bag" (2,217,000 yen), "Boy Chanel Handbag" (1,220,000 yen). Some handbags will also be released with a special engraved plate that reads "CHANEL GINZA NAMIKI".
