On July 8th (Italian time), Valentino unveiled its Fall/Winter 2022-23 Haute Couture collection, "VALENTINO THE BEGINNING," in Rome, the birthplace of the Maison.

Beauty is born from harmony. It is not something that can be imposed, followed, or determined as a rule. Beauty is a style, and it is an extremely important aspect that Maison Valentino has embraced since its founding.

This collection illustrates the idea of beauty that Valentino Creative Director Pierpaolo Piccioli has imagined, championed and nurtured. It is about putting a once-ignored idea of making characters who weren't even supporting characters the stars, centering them; finding beauty in what is considered imperfect and substandard; the idea of expanding the realms of beauty.

Everything is reborn in Rome, where it all began, and in our atelier, where creations and ideas become tangible reality through the thoughts and stories of our creators. Nothing has changed in our style. Not even the location of our atelier. And yet, everything has changed.

A dialogue with the founder, tracing the map of tastes and emotions, interacting through an accumulation of moments, themes, colours, materials, signs and lines. It is also a dialogue with personal history. A dialogue that is a self-reflection, a self-examination from different angles. After all, nothing is ever the same again. Each beginning only happens once. And each beginning returns to life in the atelier, where visions are transformed into tangible objects.

The fashion show is the ultimate platform where an initial idea becomes reality. Fashion never stands still.
Movement is its true dimension, not subject to time or space.

A movement exists along a staircase full of history. It echoes other movements and fashion moments, passing down each step and becoming part of the atelier. The final expression is based on the initial concept, but not entirely accurate. In this difference lie other new beginnings, leading to a new journey with no map other than emotion.
