Interior designer Yasumichi Morita's photo exhibition, "Yasumichi Morita Photo Art Works 2017," is being held in Paris from October 19th to November 12th. This marks his third year hosting a photo exhibition in Paris, showcasing new works from his "Porcelain Nude" series. The exhibition is held at Galerie Corrazza 1787, located north of the Louvre in the Jardin du Palais Royal, a space where historical architecture and contemporary art coexist. Natural light streams in through the all-glass entrance, illuminating the works inside the gallery. Morita's monochrome photographs bring a modern atmosphere to the nostalgic, timeless French space, creating a beautiful harmony.

In the "Porcelain Nude" series, he has chosen the female body as his subject, as it represents the most beautiful curves. In his new work, he has captured the intricate curves of two women intertwined in a single image, capturing a complex curve that would be impossible for one person to capture alone. A different form to his past works has emerged, with soft curves and sharp angles created by the intersection of these curves. "Photography is the process of capturing angles of light and shadow, and reducing three-dimensional objects to two-dimensional photographs. I continue to release my shutter in my pursuit of "sculpture in space," which seems to move back and forth between the boundaries between 3D and 2D." Morita, who works in architecture and interior design, began taking photos for "Porcelain Nude" because he wanted to create works that would blend into the interior, by displaying curved photographs that would create a sense of three-dimensionality against the straight walls. He was satisfied with the results of his two previous photo exhibitions in Paris, and realized that "the aesthetic sense of elegance is universal." The "Porcelain Nude" collection, published by Super Labo, will also be on sale at this exhibition (it will be available in Japan from the end of November). While the purpose is to preserve it as a record, "unlike photographs to hang on a wall, the size and binding of this collection were designed with tabletop display in mind," revealing Morita's attention to detail as an interior designer. Turning the pages reveals a collection of seductive and sensual photographs. The result is a book that can be enjoyed as a work of art, expanding the viewer's imagination to infinity.

While working on creative projects around the world as a designer, Morita says he will continue to actively pursue his career as a photographer. In mid-January next year, Leica Galleries in Tokyo and Kyoto will exhibit works other than the "Porcelain Nude" series. We invite you to experience for yourself the photographs that Morita, who creates three-dimensional works, creates in a two-dimensional world, blending into the space.
