Professional skateboarder and artist Mark Gonzales will be holding an art exhibition and sale of his works over two days, October 22nd and 23rd, at BOOKMARC, a bookstore in Harajuku, Tokyo, run by MARC JACOBS. Gonzales himself will be present on the opening day, the 22nd.
Mark Gonzales is a poet, contemporary artist, and one of the world's most famous professional skateboarders, sponsored by numerous skateboard brands. He has also been involved in many film projects, appearing in Harmony Korine's film "Gummo" (1997), providing illustrations for Sofia Coppola's "The Virgin Suicides" ('99), and co-writing the short film "How They Get There" with Spike Jonze. He has also held two popular events at Bookmark, the venue for this exhibition. He has created approximately 100 works specifically for this exhibition, bringing together his signature cynical and pop new works that reflect the current social climate.
