The Kobe Fashion Museum will be hosting a basic exhibition, "Foundations: Inside the Dress," from October 18, 2017. This exhibition focuses on the foundations that define the contours of a dress, revealing the secret mechanisms behind the silhouettes of various dresses from the Kobe Fashion Museum's collection, ranging from 18th-century Rococo to Empire, Romantic, crinoline, bustle, and Art Nouveau styles, as well as the 20th century.

The word "foundation" typically conjures up images of a base, foundation, or foundation. In architecture, it's like the basic framework. Dresses have changed dramatically from the 18th century to the present day, but the crinolines, bustles, and corsets used in these dresses, which act as a framework, are foundations in the fashion world. Corsets in particular are an item that symbolizes feminine beauty, having been used for around 800 years until the early 20th century. Approximately 30 of these foundations and dresses, which would normally never be seen outside, will be on display.
