Each bookstore will act as a concierge, recommending "the book you should read now" to FASHION HEADLINE readers. Every Saturday, we will introduce books selected by Shelf (3-7-4 Jingumae, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo), a Harajuku bookstore that specializes in foreign books.


■ "The Vogue Years" by Robert Doisneau

These photographs were taken for the fashion magazine Vogue by Robert Doisneau, the photographer famous for "The Kiss in Front of the Hotel Ville." Doisneau, who had an exclusive contract with Vogue from 1949 to 1952 and exclusively photographed the Paris art and social scenes, continued to photograph for his friend and editor-in-chief, Edmonde Charles-Roux, until the 1960s, even after his contract with Vogue ended.

This catalogue of a vast number of previously unseen photographs is revealed, including photos of members of the Café Society gathering at a ball in glamorous costumes, Brigitte Bardot's debut as a model, and Pablo Picasso retouching fashion photographs.

This is the catalogue for the exhibition held at the Espace Richaud of the Palace of Versailles this spring as part of the Grand Palais' Photography Month.
