
Setagaya Bread Festival 2017, Japan's largest bread festival, will be held on October 8th and 9th in Mishuku, Tokyo, featuring approximately 140 shops selling delicious bread and its accompaniments.
The event brings together bakeries, bread accompaniments, food, and drink vendors from all over Japan. IID Setagaya School of Craftsmanship will be hosting the Setagaya Bread University, where visitors can learn about bread through courses such as "Compare Breads from Around the World! Taste 8 Types of Bread from 7 Countries" and "Let's Eat Italy! Try Making Mozzarella Cheese. Make an Italian Sandwich with Freshly Made Cheese." In addition, various workshops and talk shows related to the 2017 theme, "Bread and the World," will be held over the two days, with a total capacity of approximately 1,200 participants. In addition, there will be a "Buyable! Bag Bread Museum" that brings together 10 types of local bag bread from all over Japan, including Shimane's loose bread; a sale of the limited edition "Mishuku Three-Color Bread," which sells out every year; a grand prize contest; and sales of merchandise in collaboration with artists and creators who love bread and are connected to Setagaya, including Kumushi Tsuyoshi, Sakura Fantasma, and Akatsuka Keiko. In addition, there are plans for live performances by various artists in the school grounds.
In addition, a stamp rally will be held at participating stores in the Mishuku 402 Shopping Arcade from September 23rd to October 9th. Collecting stamps will result in receiving a picnic sheet exclusive to this event. This can be redeemed at the venue on the day of the event. Participating in the event will be BOLSO, CAVALIER Bistro & Bakery, glouton, onka, sault!!, Killy's Fresh, Sancerité Kita no Komugi, Cherui, Signifiant Signifie, Gianfranco, and Setagaya Bread Market in the "bread accompaniment" category; Sado Hozon, Setouchi Jam Garden, Nordic Select Fynda, Coquelicot, and wine and olive oil specialty store 74cabotte; "regional booths" include the "Thank you for your support!" Minami Sanriku booth and Signifiant Signifie x Tokamachi! Rice Terrace Bakery; and "food court" booths include PRANA CHAI, NOZY COFFEE Mishuku branch, and the popular Italian bar Da Vinci.
