CASE Publishing, which publishes works focusing on art, including photography, contemporary art, and design, was founded in September 2015 with the aim of making art books a platform for diverse contemporary culture. Based in Tokyo, the company publishes photo books and art books as forms of expression, working with art museums, the Japan Fine Art Photography Association, and artists from Japan and abroad. The newly opened "CASE TOKYO" and "CASE ROTTERDAM" are being art directed by graphic designer Yoshihisa Tanaka, with the spatial and fixture design handled by the space production label DAIKEI MILLS. Based on the key concepts of "printed materials" and "platform," the fixtures, crafted from shipping pallets, are adaptable to the size of each space and the exhibition concept. While seemingly rugged at first glance, they exude a cool and sophisticated aesthetic. CASE TOKYO will also be holding an opening event, "Theater of Love," an exhibition of photographer Nobuyoshi Araki's work, from September 30th to November 11th. The exhibition will coincide with the publication of "Theater of Love" (published by CASE Publishing, ¥6,400), a collection of approximately 100 cabinet-format photographs taken around 1965 while Araki was working at Dentsu. The exhibition will feature all of Araki's original prints, and will also feature an advance sale of the book. Meanwhile, CASE Rotterdam will host an exhibition to celebrate the publication of Hong Kong-based photographer Chan Dick's masterpiece, "Chai Wan Fire Station" (published by CASE Publishing).
