The Yokohama Triennale 2017, an international contemporary art exhibition titled "Islands, Constellations and Galapagos," opened in August. Held every three years since its inception in Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture, the Yokohama Triennale 2017 showcases works by internationally renowned artists and introduces a wide range of up-and-coming artists, consistently showcasing the latest trends in contemporary art. Amidst the rapidly changing global situation, the exhibition examines relationships between the world and Japan, and between society and the individual, and reexamines the social significance of art from multiple perspectives. This year, the sixth edition of the exhibition, explores the themes of "connection" and "isolation" and features works that consider the current state of the world, featuring approximately 40 participating artists.
