Scye, an apparel brand created by designer Hisayo Hidaka and pattern cutter Hideaki Miyahara, will open its first directly managed street-level store, Scye Mercantile (3-54-13 Sendagaya, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo), on August 26th.
The word "Mercantile" in the store's name refers to "commerce" or "exchange," and the store is conscious of its role as a "retailer" that proposes the brand's unique design philosophy, style, and aesthetic sense. The store will carry the men's and women's collections of its main line, Scye, and its standard line, SCYE BASICS. Additionally, the store-exclusive capsule collection, "Scye Mercantile," will debut at the same time as the store's opening, and will feature genderless apparel, shoes, bags, and more in six sizes. In addition to their own brands, the store will also carry a selection of designer favorites, including cosmetics from British brand D.R.HARRIS, hats from James Lock & Co., and jewelry from Japanese brand AVM DESIGN ROOM.
The interior design was handled by Wonderwall's founder and president, Masamichi Katayama, who created a space that embodies the brand's image of a fusion of classic and modern. In addition, a free space will be set up in front of the store, where various limited-time events, including pop-up shops, will be held.
Starting on opening day, as the first part of a special collaboration project, a limited number of custom-made T-shirts and long-sleeved T-shirts from Japanese brand LOOPWHEELER will be sold.
