Artist Katsuya Sugimoto's solo exhibition, depicting three-dimensional fantasies using vivid colors and toys, will be held in Marunouchi

Event Date:2017.08.25-09.21
Aug 24, 2017

Artist Katsuya Sugimoto's solo exhibition "From Playing to Praying" will be held at H.P.FRANCE WINDOW GALLERY MARUNOUCHI in Marunouchi, Tokyo, from August 25th to September 21st. Using vivid colors and meticulous detail, Katsuya Sugimoto uses motifs and compositions to tell stories within his paintings. For Sugimoto, the toys he collected as a child, such as figurines and miniature cars, became motifs that alluded to the irrationality of a society that could not be simply divided into good and evil. This exhibition will feature new works, including a series that attempts to see what was previously invisible by drawing a single line, and a series that depicts palindromes from various countries in an eternally rotating kaleidoscope-like composition. An opening reception is also scheduled for the first day from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
