On June 24th, Yosuke Aizawa's White Mountaineering held his Spring/Summer 2018 men's collection show at the historic Palais de la Femme in Paris. The collection, titled "Blue De Travaille," focused on workwear for physically active men, including painters, carpenters, athletes, and artists. True to its title, the color palette was blue and navy. The collection combined a variety of elements, including striking motifs featuring action painting using traditional Japanese calligraphy brushes, graphic designs featuring the brand's name, and geometric and folkloric motifs, to evoke a modern workwear aesthetic for urbanites. The washed denim series at the beginning evoked the image of workwear, which develops a patina with wear and tear. From the middle of the show, the collection shifted to pieces with draping and relaxed cuts, while retaining the look of workwear, exuding a touch of elegance. Although the entire collection falls into the single genre of workwear, it was a collection that felt more diverse than ever before.
