This report covers the four-day PITTI IMMAGINE UOMO 92 event, held from June 13th to 16th.
As a joint men's fashion exhibition, PITTI UOMO's platform has earned a high reputation, despite market changes that have seen headwinds blowing against the high-end market. This is due to the fact that it actively attracts new designers and brands as an official event, and provides a realistic introduction to the next generation of men's fashion trends.
At last year's June event, Raf Simons, who had just retired as creative director of Dior, was invited to showcase his archives. Gosha Rubchinskiy and visvim from Japan were guest designers for the show. This time, J.W. Anderson (Jonathan William Anderson) and OFF-WHITE c/o VIRGIL ABLOH, two of the most sought-after designers, were highly praised by both the press and buyers, and Pitti was able to bring their runways to Florence.
Perhaps because of this, the venue seemed to be filled with an increasing number of young people with gender-free and luxury street styles. The key to the fashion market is getting millennials back into consumption, and these investors in fashion are certainly an important presence for Pitti.
