Chacott Kachidoki Studio & Cafe (tentative name), a complex run by Chacott, a retailer of ballet and dance goods, and Mitsui Fudosan Residential, will open in November in the rapidly developing Tokyo Bay area. The area is a hotspot, with the full opening of Route 2 Loop in 2015, the planned site of the Tokyo Olympic Village in 2020, and the construction of a series of tower apartment buildings. The facility aims to promote the beauty of ballet and a healthy lifestyle, and to serve as a hub for information on ballet in everyday life. It also aims to foster a cultural community for the residents of Chuo Ward, centered around Kachidoki. The three-story facility will house studios on the second and third floors, where ballet classes and other activities will be held. A dedicated room for "gyrokinesis," a gentle exercise often referred to as "ballerina yoga," will also be installed. Next to the studio on the second floor, a dining cafe will open, offering a menu of "ballet food," which ballerinas use to maintain their physiques, and which the general public can also enjoy. The cafe will use produce from the Toshin and Hokushin regions of Nagano Prefecture, centered around Ueda City and Aoki Village, where Chacott's ballet equipment is manufactured. By removing the movable wall between the cafe and the studio, customers can enjoy food while watching ballet and dance performances. A Chacott shop will open on the first floor. Aiming to create a store that will provide an opportunity for people to experience ballet, the shop will offer not only lesson wear but also ballet-themed miscellaneous goods that are easy for the general public to wear, as well as Chacott's stage cosmetics, "Chacott for Professionals." Approximately 70% of the cosmetics customers are general customers. Also on the same floor will be Sakura, a bicycle shop belonging to the Onward Group. By establishing an eco-friendly store in Koto Ward, a ward known for its cycling spots, the shop aims to contribute to the local community.
Chacott was founded in 1950 as Seishisha, a manufacturer and distributor of pointe shoes and ballet shoes. The company changed its name to Chacott in 1974, and became a group company of Onward Kashiyama in 1990. It operates ballet and dance goods shops and culture studios across the country and has expanded overseas to countries such as Korea. It has also ventured into new genres such as yoga studios.
