Miu Miu will relocate and reopen its flagship store in Aoyama, Tokyo, on March 28th. The new store was designed by Herzog & de Meuron, the architectural firm that also designed the Prada Aoyama store. This marks their first attempt at designing a Miu Miu store. Exploring the possibilities for a more intimate building, they developed and constructed ideas such as being more hidden rather than open, understated rather than luxurious, and opaque rather than skeletal. The entire building has a box-like design at street level, and the facade is mirrored, devoid of logos and decorations. The interior is furnished with sofas and armchairs, creating a relaxed, comfortable, home-like space. Limited edition items will be available to commemorate the opening. A mink-trimmed handbag (priced at 370,000 yen) is a design that appeared in the 2015 Spring/Summer collection. Each item is unique and available in eight colors. Other items from the popular "Madras" series include a crystal studded bag (138,000 yen), wallet (from 68,000 yen), and key case (42,000 yen). Limited edition sneakers (161,000 yen) decorated with multicolored crystals will also be released.
In addition, as part of the special project "Girl In," which distributes event reports through Miu Miu Girls in major cities around the world, Miroslava Duma will be reporting on the Miu Miu Aoyama store opening event. Posts will be posted daily from March 24th to 28th, so be sure to check them out.
