Palace Hotel Tokyo to sell limited edition Christmas cakes with special features

Sep 5, 2015

The Palace Hotel Tokyo in Marunouchi, Tokyo, will be selling limited-edition Christmas cakes and breads at its pastry shop, Sweets & Deli, from December 20th to 25th. Seven types of Christmas cakes will be available, ranging from playful designs aimed at children to designs for girls' nights and adult parties. The lineup is rich in variety, highlighting each cake's unique character by carefully considering the intended use and occasion. The "Reve" (20,000 yen), featuring a gift box perfectly balanced atop a chimney, represents Santa Claus delivering a gift too large to fit down the chimney. Opening the dark chocolate gift box reveals cube-shaped chocolate brownies and vanilla petit choux. This surprise-filled treat is perfect for a lively Christmas with children. "Sapin de Noël" (10,000 yen), a cone-shaped tree cake made from pure white chocolate that looks as if it's covered in snow, is an adorable treat with a colorful macaron tower peeking out from inside. It uses five types of macarons, including raspberry and lemon, and is perfect for sharing. "Couronne" (4,000 yen), inspired by a poinsettia wreath, is a glossy berry and chocolate mousse decorated with bright red chocolate leaves. "Lumiere" (4,000 yen), a modern take on a Buche de Noël, uses passion fruit, mango, and banana to represent snowy fields and trees shining golden in the sun. Palace Hotel's traditional masterpiece, Marron Chantilly, is available as a Christmas-only "Mont Blanc" (5,500 yen), reminiscent of a pure white snowy field. The Strawberry Shortcake (5,000 yen), made with an original blend of fresh cream, is inspired by flowers covered in powdered snow.

Last year's popular cheesecake, Bonnet de Père Noël (8,000 yen), in which a chocolate Santa Claus is revealed when you remove his red hat, is also back this year. Reservations for all seven types of Christmas cakes will be accepted from October 1st.

Stollen, a German Christmas treat that is popular every year, is available in three varieties: the classic type made with plenty of dried fruit (2,100 yen), Bohnen Stollen (2,100 yen), finished with plenty of soybean flour and the aroma of yuzu, and Schwarz Stollen (2,200 yen), which is similar to a chocolate gateau. It will be on sale from December 1st to 25th, along with Bella Vecca en Saucisson (1,100 yen), a yeast confectionery with a distinctive salami-like appearance, and Panettone, a traditional Italian bread (L 1,200 yen, S 400 yen).

Other gifts perfect for seasonal greetings will also be on sale (reservations required for all items), including the Christmas Hamper (7,000 yen), an assortment of stollen, chocolates, and baked goods, and the Christmas Gift Roast Chicken set (serves 4-6 people 7,500 yen, includes champagne 12,000 yen).
