From top model to actress, Cara Delevingne's "brilliant transformation"

Sep 11, 2015

Cara Delevingne, who transitioned from top model to actress, stars in the film "The City of Angels," which premiered on September 5th. We've been keeping our eye on Cara's career as an actress, including this film.

Cara, known for her trademark naturally thick eyebrows and one of the pioneers of the global trend for naturally thick eyebrows, has appeared in campaigns for brands like Chanel and H&M, and walked the runway for shows like Stella McCartney and Oscar de la Renta. Her unpretentious personality has made her a fashion icon for women around the world.

She also made her acting debut in 2012's "Anna Karenina," starring Keira Knightley, and continued her acting career with roles in "Kids in Love," directed by Cara's friend, Preston Thompson. In July of this year, she announced her transition from model to actress. Carla's first full-fledged film role as an actress was recently released in "The City Where Angels Disappeared." This 2014 film, directed by renowned British director Michael Winterbottom, is based on the "Perugia Amanda Knox Murder Case," the murder of a British female student that is arguably the most internationally acclaimed case in Italian criminal history. Because the victim, Elizabeth, and the suspect, Jessica, an American student, were both young and beautiful, the case garnered intense media coverage not only in Italy but also in the US and UK. Sensationalized reports repeatedly exaggerated the crime's background, often involving sex and drugs. In this film, Carla plays Melanie, a cheerful schoolgirl. She also serves as a guide for the city, hired by Thomas, a film director played by Daniel Bruhl, who is trying to adapt the Perugia murder case for a film. Even as she moves from the runway to the big screen, Cara's bold eyebrow makeup remains her signature style, so keep an eye on her performance.

After this film, she has been booked to appear in major films such as "Pan," the much-anticipated live-action Peter Pan film, and "Suicide Squad," in which Will Smith and other all-stars play DC Comics villains, so we can expect even more from her in the future.

The film "The City Where Angels Disappeared" is currently showing at Human Trust Cinema Yurakucho and other theaters nationwide.
