On September 12th, FASHION'S NIGHT OUT 2015 (FNO), one of the world's largest shopping events, hosted by VOGUE JAPAN, kicked off. The opening ceremony was held at Omotesando Hills. The opening act for this year's seventh annual FNO was artist Shishido Kavka. Appearing on a stage set up on the lowest floor of the atrium-style Omotesando Hills, Kavka provoked the audience right from the start with a bold pose, pointing his drumsticks at the ceiling. Starting with the opening song "theme," which featured only a drum solo, he delivered powerful and seductive performances of numbers such as "Aisuru Kakugo," "Don't be love," and "L'Ave Corrida." After the performance, at the call of MC Chris Peppler, the performers ascended the grand staircase and appeared on the stage above. "This is my first time participating in FNO. I've heard it's a wonderful festival, so I'm looking forward to having fun with everyone," she said enthusiastically.
Following Kafka on stage were models Akimoto Kozue, Ellie Rose, DJ Mademoiselle Yulia, and Victoria's Secret model Jela Mariano.
Akimoto began by saying, "I've loved fashion since I was a child, and I want to enjoy it to the fullest today too," to which MC Chris Peppler commented, "Kafka and I have matching bangs," seemingly curious about their hairstyles. Akimoto responded, "I have blunt bangs, but Kafka has curly bangs," explaining each other's preferences and highlighting how they express their individuality through their hairstyles. Ellie Rose (performing under the name "ELLI ARAKAWA") and Mademoiselle Yulia, who will be DJing at the party held during the event, each expressed their ambitions, saying, "Today, I want to liven up the festival with my music selections," and "I want to enjoy not only DJing but also browsing various stores." When asked by Chris Peppler about the differences between the Tokyo FNO and New York FNO, Jerra Mariano excitedly replied, "Tokyo is definitely more exciting!" and promised to enjoy shopping to the fullest. Finally, Mitsuko Watanabe, editor-in-chief of VOGUE JAPAN, greeted the crowd, saying, "Not only will you visit your favorite brand stores, but I also hope you'll discover even just one fascinating brand you've never seen before and have a wonderful night." With this as a signal, Chris Peppler loudly announced the start of this year's FNO.
