Two new books by Yataro Matsuura and a talk event featuring him [Daikanyama T-Site Recommended Books]

Each bookstore will act as a concierge, recommending "the book you should read now" to FASHION HEADLINE readers. Every Friday, Daikanyama T-Site (17-5 Sarugaku-cho, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo) will introduce a book selected by the bookstore.

■ "Kuishinbo" and "Matsuura Yataro's 'Men's Top Quality Catalog'" by Matsuura Yataro

After serving as editor-in-chief of the magazine "Kurashi no Techo" for many years, Matsuura Yataro moved to Cookpad, Japan's largest cooking recipe service, in April 2015. He is currently editor-in-chief of Cookpad's online media "Kurashi no Kihon." Two new books have been published by Matsuura Yataro.

The first book, titled "Kuishinbo," introduces 51 famous Tokyo restaurants that Matsuura Yataro, who is also known as an expert on walking around town, has loved for many years, with complete store information. This book, which compiles Matsuura Yataro's specialties, including his sweet-toothed classic cheesecake from Nakameguro's "Johan," to toast sandwiches from Ginza's "West Confectionery Shop," and hand-delivered half-piece bread from Nihonbashi's "Kamimo," can be considered a "men's gift" bible.

The book, titled "Matsuura Yataro's 'Men's Top Quality Catalog,'" explores the theme of "What does top quality and fine quality mean to men?" and is a catalog and essay collection of 100 top quality products to help readers understand true quality. It also includes an essay detailing his fresh feelings after recently transferring to Cookpad, as well as a handmade book called "Days," given to him by the late illustrator Mizumaru Anzai, a friend of his.

To commemorate the publication of these two books, on September 20th, Matsuura Yataro will be invited to the event space on the second floor of Tsutaya Bookstore Building 1 to hold a talk event titled "Matsuura Yataro Dissecting Illustrated Guide" to celebrate the publication of "Kuishinbo" and "Matsuura Yataro's 'Men's Top Quality Catalog'."

With the topics of "What is delicious food?" and "What does top quality mean to a man?" under the theme of discussion, Matsuura will talk about his perspective on food selection based on the things he has used and eaten for many years, his thoughts on the "basics of life," and his new challenges from spring onwards. You can participate in the event with a participation ticket received when you purchase this book at Daikanyama Tsutaya Bookstore. Applications are currently being accepted in-store and online.
