Each bookstore will act as a concierge, recommending "the book you should read now" to FASHION HEADLINE readers. Every Thursday, each branch of the art bookshop "NADiff" will introduce a book they recommend. This time, we'll be looking at the flagship store, NADiff Apartment, in Ebisu, Tokyo (1-18-4 NADiff A/P/A/R/T, 1F, Ebisu, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo).

■ "C/M/Y" by Hamada Yuji

Yuji Hamada, a photographer active both in Japan and abroad, continues to explore the question of what it means to "see" through photography, a form of visual expression.

His new "C/M/Y" series explores the photographic expression that emerges through the combination of "color" and "shape." This experimental work involves dissolving a digital Polaroid photograph in water into three components: cyan, magenta, and yellow, and then placing the peeled film surface on paper to reconstruct it.

In this work, he creates new images by layering various images, using not only his own photographs but also photocopies of postcards and images from the internet.

Eight works from the "C/M/Y" series were selected, and during the printing process, each color was separated once again and printed on three colors of paper: cyan, magenta, and yellow. This work, "C/Y/M," creates pages that allow one to experience the joy of infinitely expanding possibilities through the combination of images and colors.

The beautiful binding, designed by designer Hans Gremen of the Dutch publishing company "Fw:photography," was carefully selected for the printing process and paper used, making this an art book that is not just a collection of works, but one that confronts the medium of expression itself: the book.
