Burberry held its Spring/Summer 2016 Burberry Prorsum women's collection show at London's Kensington Gardens. The collection, themed "FUNCTION REGALIA," featured classic outerwear pieces with details inspired by military formal wear, such as gold metal and heraldic buttons, paired with English lace dresses for a modern look. Also featured were backpacks made from the same high-density, durable nylon as the cotton gabardine used in the brand's iconic British trench coats, and a "belt bag" made from English suede, incorporating the trench coat belt design. The makeup for the collection was based on a natural look, with deep lip colors taking center stage. A limited-edition nail polish inspired by the collection's color palette was also unveiled. More than 1,000 guests attended the event, including British celebrities who appear in the brand's advertising campaigns, such as Kate Moss, Cara Delevingne, Suki Waterhouse, and Jourdan Dunn, actors Benedict Cumberbatch and Sienna Miller, film director Baz Luhrmann, and model, designer, and singer Yulia.
In the orchestra pit set up in the center of the runway, British singer Alison Moyet performed live with a 32-piece orchestra. The performance will be streamed on the brand's official Apple Music account, which was recently launched. Additionally, the official website will open an online shop called "Runway Made To Order" where you can reserve and purchase the latest outerwear and bags that appeared on the runway for a limited time until October 5th. Items that are reserved will come with a special order service where you can have your name or initials engraved.
