This season marks the 10th anniversary of Riccardo Tisci's appointment as artistic director, and Givenchy left Paris for New York Fashion Week.
New York is a symbol of the American dream for designers, and America holds a deep connection to both men, as founder Hubert de Givenchy designed numerous film costumes for stars such as Audrey Hepburn. The show, held on September 11th, a day unforgettable for people around the world, unfolded a spiritual world imbued with Riccardo's grand love.
The show took place on a massive outdoor stage built along the Hudson River in Tribeca. A large number of guests attended, including celebrities such as Julia Roberts, famous designers, industry professionals, students, and local residents. The long runway wound through six huts constructed from recycled materials within the venue. Atop the hut, a performance symbolizing universal themes (love, peace, freedom, spirituality, etc.) that Riccardo created in collaboration with Marina Abramović, with whom he has worked on numerous projects, took place throughout the show.
The collection was a world of endless contrasts that could be called both a return to Riccardo's roots and a part of his continuity. The colors were black and white, simplicity and complexity, masculinity and femininity. The contrast between strictness and delicacy could also be seen in the styles that combined tuxedo details with lingerie. Furthermore, the dresses, which lavishly incorporated the techniques of an haute couture house, were lavishly decorated with lavish hand-stitched embroidery of sequins, beads, pearls, and jewels, making them truly spectacular. They added a beautiful touch of elegance to the grand spectacle.
