TASAKI, a leading Japanese jeweler, has partnered with creators from around the world, including Thakoon and Marie-Hélène de Taillac, to create items that combine beauty with innovation and sophisticated design. While the brand has previously released leather items alongside its jewelry, next spring it will launch its first leather goods collection.
For the new collection, the brand has partnered with RELIQUIAE, a brand known for its contemporary designs while respecting traditional Spanish craftsmanship. The collection, "TASAKI por RELIQUIAE," is designed by the brand's designers, Hector Jareño Amieva and Adrián Díaz López. Embracing TASAKI's three core values of "Quality," "Creativity," and "Craftsmanship," the leather collection, "TASAKI por RELIQUIAE," is made using traditional Spanish methods for most of the production process, from sourcing materials to creating metal parts and sewing the leather, just like RELIQUIAE. Inspired by Spanish contemporary art and the architecture of Joaquín Palausís, the first collection incorporates unique architectural forms into portable items. The collection features 12 high-quality calf leather bags (estimated prices: ¥100,000-¥300,000) and six small leather items (estimated prices: ¥50,000-¥100,000), each available in a variety of colors. Amieva and Lopez visited Japan for the launch. At the press conference, they stated, "Just as Tasaki values the quality of pearls and diamonds, we pursue the highest quality leather. Spanish leather is incredibly soft and smooth, boasting unrivaled quality in Europe. From this collection, our artisans carefully select the finest materials to create our leather products." The collection is scheduled to be available at the Tasaki Ginza flagship store and Tokyo Midtown store from late February 2016.
