On January 3rd and 4th, 2016, Ginza Mitsukoshi will hold a New Year's Festival with the theme "Encounters - Enjoying the New Year with all five senses" at the Ginza Terrace, Terrace Court, and Terrace Room on the 9th floor. The festival will feature a tasting of zoni from all over Japan, as well as Japanese drumming performances and Kagura performances. The "Ozoni Tour," where visitors can sample different regional flavors, will allow everyone to enjoy a variety of zoni made with unique regional techniques. On the 3rd, the festival will feature Edo zoni (soy sauce, Tokyo), yellowtail zoni (light soy sauce, Hyogo Prefecture), red bean zoni (zenzai, Tottori Prefecture), Kyoto-style zoni (white miso, Kyoto Prefecture), and seafood zoni (white miso, Hokkaido). On the 4th, the following dishes will be available: Haba nori zoni (soy sauce, Chiba Prefecture), walnut zoni (soy sauce, Iwate Prefecture), anmochi zoni (white miso, Kagawa Prefecture), sake kasu zoni (rice miso and sake kasu, Tochigi Prefecture), and dried squid zoni (soy sauce, Fukuoka Prefecture). Each bowl of each dish will be 501 yen (tax included), and amazake (sweet sake) will also be sold at the venue for 301 yen (tax included). Both days will be open from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM. On the 3rd, from 11:00 AM, there will be a performance by the Japanese drumming unit "Wadaiko TAWOO," produced by Asano Kaori, leader of the Japanese drumming band GOCOO. Also, from 1:30 PM on the same day, there will be a performance of "Kasai no Sato Kagura Kotobuki Lion Dance," a Tokyo-designated and Edogawa Ward-registered intangible folk cultural property.
