31 pieces from Frida Kahlo's legacy series on display, "Nobel Prize of photography" winning photographer's solo exhibition in Ginza

Photographer Ishiuchi Miyako, winner of the Hasselblad International Photography Award in 2014, known as the "Nobel Prize of the photography world," will be holding a solo exhibition titled "Frida is" at the Shiseido Gallery in Tokyo's Ginza district from June 28 to August 21.
In 1979, Ishiuchi Miyako won the 4th Kimura Ihei Photography Award for her photobook "APARTMENT," which captures the atmosphere, atmosphere, and memories of the city. In 2005, she was selected to represent Japan at the 51st Venice Biennale for "Mother's 2000-2005: Imprints of the Future," a series that featured photographs of her mother's belongings, and she began to attract global attention.
Hiroshima, a series that has been ongoing since 2007 and features photographs of the belongings of those who died in the atomic bombing, has also received international acclaim, and in recent years she has held numerous solo exhibitions both in Japan and abroad. Ishiuchi's current exhibition, "Frida is," features 31 works from Ishiuchi's photobook "Frida by Ishiuchi," which features photographs of Frida Kahlo's belongings, including corsets, clothing, shoes, rings, and other accessories worn by Frida, as well as combs, cosmetics, and medicines, which were unsealed in 2004, 50 years after her death. The exhibition also features 31 works from her "Frida: Love and Pain" series, as well as her photobook "Frida by Ishiuchi," which features photographs of Frida's belongings, including corsets, clothing, shoes, rings, and other accessories worn by Frida, as well as combs, cosmetics, and medicines. The exhibition will showcase Ishiuchi's photographs, taken in natural light as if in dialogue with Frida Kahlo, the Frida Kahlo Museum, also known as the "Blue House," showcasing her belongings. Ishiuchi's works will also be exhibited at the Shiseido Ginza Building, SHISEIDO THE GINZA, and the Tokyo Ginza Shiseido Building during the exhibition. Ishiuchi will also hold a discussion with mame designer Maiko Kurokawa on July 2nd during the exhibition. Details on how to register can be found on the Shiseido Gallery's official website. In addition, a photobook featuring unpublished photographs, "Frida: Love and Pain," and a collection of Ishiuchi's essays, "Photography Relations," will be published in conjunction with the exhibition. The documentary film "Frida Kahlo's Legacy: Ishiuchi Miyako, Weaving," will be screened again at Theater Seven in Osaka from July 23rd and at Uplink in Tokyo from July 30th.
