IDEE is hosting the eighth installment of its "Life in Art" series, "Jopsu Ramu / Musta - KALA Exhibition," an exhibition of specially drawn works by designer Jopsu Ramu, at Café & Meal MUJI Shinjuku inside MUJI Shinjuku. The exhibition runs until January 23rd of next year.
These drawings were specially created to commemorate Ramu's design of the "Sarjaton" tableware series for Iittala, Finland's leading ceramics brand. The concept of the work is "KALA" (meaning "fish" in Japanese). Fish swim slowly within abstract patterns drawn loosely and freehand. A total of 18 pieces were produced, five of which are on display at MUJI Shinjuku. Additionally, 18 individually numbered silkscreen prints are available for purchase on the Life in Art website.
Jops Lam founded MUSUTA Ltd., a design studio based in Finland and Tokyo, together with Timo Lam. They work on motion graphics, video production, design, art direction, and creative direction for brands and advertising agencies. Their work has won the Golden Lion at Cannes, the D&Ad London Bronze Award, and the European Design Award Bronze Award.
