Andy Warhol's Valuable Archive Collection Comes to Shinjuku Isetan

Feb 7, 2014

Gallery Target, an art gallery specializing in works by contemporary artists from Japan and abroad, is holding the "Warhols" exhibition at the Global Closet Gallery on the second floor of the main building of the Isetan Shinjuku store. The exhibition runs until February 17th. The exhibition features a valuable collection of items related to Andy Warhol, including a hand-signed T-shirt featuring the Campbell's can, a collection of works with pop-up Campbell's cans, a silkscreen print featuring Marilyn Monroe, and autographed bookmarks distributed at Warhol's solo exhibitions. The collection also includes invitations and posters from Warhol's most prominent exhibitions. While the album jacket for "The Velvet Underground and Nico," for which Warhol served as producer, features his full name signature, Warhol stopped signing his name in his later years, making items with his full name signature extremely rare. While the exhibition is held on the fashion floor of the Isetan Shinjuku store, photography is permitted, allowing visitors to enjoy Warhol's works in between shopping.
