ANN DEMEULEMEESTER held its SS15 men's collection show at the Paris School of Medicine hall, located on the former Cordeliers Abbey.
After founder Ann Demeulemeester left the fashion house, the brand was taken over by the design team for the AW14-15 women's collection. Current chief designer Sebastien Meunuer appeared to give a speech at the finale. Born in 1974, Meunuer studied fashion at Esmod and won the Men's Prize at the 1998 Hyères competition. Since then, he has presented fetishistic, bondage-inspired men's collections every season, but he closed his own brand and has been working as Ann Demeulemeester's assistant since 2010. This season's inspiration comes from the Arts & Crafts movement, advocated by William Morris, which was connected to Art Nouveau, as well as the works of artist Robert Rauschenberg and sculptor Louise Bourgeois. The Arts & Crafts movement is featured in the embroidery on jackets and other items, while Robert Rauschenberg's work is directly linked to the idea of layering, and Louise Bourgeois's flower and wheat motifs are referenced in accessories and other items. While carrying on the DNA of Ann Demeulemeester, Meunier has brilliantly succeeded in breathing new life into the Maison.
