Rick Owens held his Fall/Winter 2017-18 men's collection show at the Palais de Tokyo. The collection, titled "Glitter," was inspired by the glam rock style of the 1970s, when David Bowie was active, and recalled a time of liberation from sexual oppression and other constraints. This season, Owens placed particular emphasis on tailoring, showcasing unique cutting techniques using a single piece from the side to the sleeve. Jackets with knitted sleeves can be rolled up and gathered for a more pleasing look. Bodysuits paired with down jackets were crafted from shape-memory techno fabrics and coated denim. Tops also appeared in techno fabrics that lose their wrinkles when heated. The down vest, inspired by a poncho, can be worn over tailored clothing. The jackets and blousons seen in the second half of the show featured woven leather parts, and even this single detail gave the brand a strong sense of individuality.
