The 9th "HOHO" Smile EVENTS presented by KIGI/FH/MUSUBI will be holding "HOHO#009 Rika Fukuda's Hello Goodbye Gift Wrapping" at H.P.DECO on Saturday, March 11th, with confectionery expert Rika Fukuda as host.

This will be Fukuda's second appearance at HOHO, following her "Enjoying Figs Workshop" in the fall of 2016. While normally engaged in activities such as "eating," "making," and "talking" as a confectionery researcher, she is also researching the "wrapping" of food, as evidenced by her book "Food Wrapping - +50 Delicious Recipes."
In Fukuda's hands, pies, brownies, biscuits, apples, mugs and chocolates, and even books, aprons, chairs...all of these are quickly wrapped using ordinary sheets of paper, crepe paper, thread, scraps of ribbon, and other materials, and are transformed into packages so beautiful that you'll almost feel bad about opening them.
In this workshop, Fukuda, who believes that "if you can wrap sweets, wrapping a square box is easy!" will give a lecture on the basics of "wrapping," which she arrived at after much research, and will teach you a method of wrapping tea leaves that she discovered in Beijing by folding just two pieces of paper. Participants will also be able to design wrapping methods together with Fukuda for a unique item brought by the participants. After the workshop, participants will be able to enjoy Fukuda's specially made fruit sandwiches while she answers questions. Furthermore, event attendees who purchase products at H.P.DECO on the day will receive a special gift wrapping by Fukuda. A native of Fukuoka Prefecture, after graduating from Musashino Art University, she worked at Shinjuku Takano, a long-established fruit shop, before going independent. She currently works as a confectionery researcher, primarily appearing in magazines and books. She is also currently developing the apron brand ESILIINA, in collaboration with Daikanyama textile shop Cocca. Her publications include "Manga Kitchen," "Flavored Water," "Delicious Ice Desserts All Year Round," and "Wrapping Food." ◇What is HOHO?
