Actor Brad Pitt was born on December 18, 1963, in Shawnee, Oklahoma. He studied journalism at the University of Missouri-Columbia but dropped out to pursue acting. He moved to Los Angeles and appeared in several films and television dramas before landing his first starring role in the 1988 film "Rick." He gained attention in Ridley Scott's "Thelma & Louise" (1991) and further refined his acting skills in Robert Redford's "A River Runs Through It" (1992). He appeared in a minor role in "True Romance" (1993), which featured cameos from many other big-name actors. In 1994, he starred in "Interview with the Vampire" and "Legends of the Fall," achieving idol-like popularity. However, as if to shake off that image, he actively took on dirty roles. He solidified his popularity with his roles in David Fincher's blockbuster thriller "Seven" and "12 Monkeys," for which he was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. He has since enjoyed success with roles in "Meet Joe Black," "Fight Club," the "Ocean's" series, and "Mr. & Mrs. Smith," in which he co-starred with his current partner, Angelina Jolie. His acting skills have also earned him Academy Award nominations for Best Actor for his roles in "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" in 2008 and "Moneyball" in 2011. He has recently been focusing on film production. His current film, "The Counselor," is currently in theaters, and is attracting attention for its costumes by Giorgio Armani. He is also known for his knowledge of modern architecture and for collecting designer furniture. In February of this year, he released a collection of modern furniture in collaboration with furniture maker Frank Polano.
