The start of a new year, coupled with the chill of winter, is a time when both body and mind tighten.
As I gazed upon the trees stretching against the cold sky, I thought to myself, "Perhaps fashion is connected to all the things that surround us, and that these things become tangible, tangible, and tangible forms..."
I say "perhaps..." because last year was a year in which I was deeply impressed by the power of fashion. 2015 seems to be a year in which we can expect even more "multiplication" that will expand the possibilities of fashion. Perhaps it is precisely because "fashion" that has yet to be seen is being born that people are excited about fashion and driven by a desire to learn more.
■ Traveling Between Times and Places
Great artists create works that transcend time, as if they were binding together the past and the future in a single moment. Fashion is a different form from art, and I believe that "new forms of expression can be achieved by combining traditional techniques that have been passed down through the generations and taking advantage of the local area's advantages with human creativity."
Last year, I had the opportunity to travel to various parts of Japan for research. Hachijojima, Sakaiminato, Noto Peninsula, Niigata, Kanazawa, Kyoto, Kobe, Ishigaki Island, Setouchi... Each region possessed techniques that could be considered the crystallization of wisdom passed down since ancient times.
Last year, I often fantasized about how wonderful it would be if these techniques and creations were combined in a way that suits our lives in the future. I hope that 2016 will be the year that I can make that fantasy a reality.
This has been a long post, but since media is a medium for connecting something with something else, I edit FASHION HEADLINE every day with the hope that it can play a role in connecting wonderful people, events, and things from each region.
As a digital media company, one of the themes we are interested in is the chemical reaction between technology and fashion. In 2016, we will also be focusing on the field of "fashion x tech."
Fashion is constantly being updated, so even though we are involved with fashion every day, there is still much we don't understand about fashion.
That's what makes fashion so fascinating!
All of us at FASHION HEADLINE would like to make this a year in which we face fashion head on.
Thank you for your continued support of FASHION HEADLINE this year!
