Dior presented its Spring/Summer 2017 Haute Couture collection at the Musée Rodin in Paris. This season marked Artistic Director Maria Grazia Chiuri's first haute couture collection. She was captivated by the various interpretations the labyrinth archetype has taken over the years. This was also evident in the fantastical setting of the venue, with giant trees, flowers, and plants growing everywhere, and allegorical imagery scattered throughout. It seemed as if she was superimposing the image of the intricate labyrinth on her own journey into the traditional world of haute couture within the historic house. "Adventuring the world of Dior is like stepping into a labyrinth," Maria Grazia said. The opening of the show centered around a black reimagining of the house's iconic "Bar" jacket. Tops transformed into hoodies and capes, paired with loose, wide culottes for a new tuxedo style. Accessorized with masks and headpieces designed by Stephen Jones, these pieces exuded a gothic, alluring atmosphere. Dresses were adorned with striking floral, butterfly, and star motifs, and the color palette shifted to pale, powdery shades of pink, gray, mauve, and blue. Glamorous dresses with shaped waists, reminiscent of the "New Look," were also featured. Lace was unwrapped and spread over organza, while pleated tulle flared in a feminine, graceful fashion. Each piece created a stunning silhouette that embodied the essence of couture.

As the Maison's couturier said, "After women, flowers are the most noble creations. So delicate, so alluring, but they must be handled with care," the beautiful floral decorations, trapped in layers of tulle, were of such stunning quality that they were like looking at a carefully preserved plant specimen.

The finale was a grand ball prepared by Maria Grazia. Many celebrities gathered from all over the world to celebrate the glorious launch of the new Dior.
