The second installment of "THE ROAD," a series of landscapes captured by photographer Hidenobu Kasahara during his travels around Italy, will be held online: Florence.

The setting for this second installment is Florence, Italy, a city of art and fashion. As the capital of Tuscany, 15th-century Florence became a cultural center of the Renaissance. The city center, known as the "Historic Centre of Florence," is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and it was designated the European Capital of Culture in 1986.

A city that flourished thanks to artists such as Botticelli, Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, and Raphael.

Kasahara recalls the city as follows:

A city where artists and fashion were born, the scenery is magnificent no matter where you look. The colors of the roofs are consistent with the landscape. I was awed by the intricate carving techniques used to construct this enormous structure over many years.

Ponte Vecchio (Ponte Vecchio) is said to be the oldest bridge in Florence, and jewelry shops line the bridge.

While the COVID-19 pandemic has rapidly led to a shift to remote work, there are certainly analog things, like casual conversations with others, that we must cherish. "THE ROAD" depicts a story woven by the roads, people, and towns, where such feelings seem to intersect.

Pay attention to Hidenobu Kasahara's artistic photography, which captures a quiet and warm atmosphere. Gazing at the past, present, and future, our roads continue on.
