
Actress and model Rina Ota was born on January 11, 1988, in Chiba Prefecture.
Born to a Japanese father and a Russian mother, she spent two years in Moscow as a child. In 2001, she won the grand prize in a reader model audition for Nicola magazine and made her modeling debut. She has appeared on the covers of many magazines and in commercials for major companies such as Shiseido and Sony.
In 2004, she made her screen debut in Lee Sang-il's film Sixty-Nine, based on the novel by Ryu Murakami. In 2006, she was selected as the model for Miu Miu's fall/winter world campaign and starred in Yuki Inomata's Humoresque: Upside-Down Butterfly. In 2010, she appeared in "J'AI FAIM!", directed by Kinomura Miho, which won the top prize at the Milan short film festival "ASVOFF." Last year, she attracted attention when she was featured in the "NATURAL BEAUTY BASIC" campaign and an au commercial. She also appeared in director Takimoto Tomoyuki's much talked about film "Nouman." She is also involved in music, having previously sung on Haruomi Hosono's "PUZZLE-RIDDLE" and Towa Tei's "A.O.R." In her personal life, she married actor Matsuda Ryuhei in January 2009 and gave birth to her first child, a daughter, in July of the same year.
