Daido Moriyama, Hiromix, Kenshu Shintsubo, Takashi Homma and others take part in "Purple Fashion"'s 20th anniversary "NOCTURNAL DREAM" exhibition

Dec 5, 2012

"NOCTURNAL DREAM," a photo exhibition celebrating the 20th anniversary of "PURPLE FASHION," featuring photographs by Daido Moriyama, Hiromix, Takehide Niitsubo, Takashi Homma, and others, is being held at "THE LAST GELLERY" in Shirokane, Tokyo. The exhibition runs until Sunday, December 16, 2012.

"PURPLE" is an independent art and fashion magazine founded in Paris in 1992 by Olivier Zahm and Elein Fleiss. It consists of two issues: "PURPLE FASHION" and "PURPLE JOURNAL." It is known for launching many artists and designers into the world through its pages, edited with a free and sharp aesthetic that overturned the conventional wisdom of fashion magazines.

Other participating artists in this exhibition are Anders Edström, Suzuki Chikashi, Sanai Masashi, Suzuki Ritaro, Hirakawa Noritoshi, and Olivier Zahm, editor-in-chief of PURPLE FASHION. Many of these artists were introduced to Olivier by Hayashi Fumihiro, known as editor-in-chief of the magazine DUNE, who passed away prematurely in July 2011. The exhibition, made possible by the friendship between these two men, was held at Hayashi's gallery, THE LAST GELLERY, and the opening reception was attended by designer Olympia Le-Tan, who was visiting Japan from Paris.
