Yoko Ono special exhibition "Sky TV for Hokkaido" is currently being held in Shinjuku

Jan 23, 2014

Yoko Ono's special exhibition "Sky TV for Hokkaido" is running until March 22nd at P3 art and environment, located across from Tochoji Temple in Shinjuku, Tokyo.

The exhibited "Sky TV for Hokkaido" is a reconstruction of an installation originally installed in 2005 in an abandoned pioneer house remaining in Hokkaido's "Tokachi Millennium Forest." Using the gallery space of P3 and the grounds of Tochoji Temple, the entire work is exhibited, along with numerous photographs that convey the atmosphere of the forest.

In the gallery, photographs of the "Sky TV for Hokkaido" exhibition, a live monitor showing the Tokachi sky, and 15 handwritten words by Yoko Ono, "The Blue Room Event," create a forest-like space, and visitors can explore the space while listening to the audio of the instructional piece "Sky TV/Hokkaido," read by Ono herself.

In addition, works titled "Tree of Wishes" and "Song of Clouds" are installed at the entrance to the Tochoji Temple grounds. Visitors can attach wishes to the wish tree, which will then be delivered to Ono's permanent installation, "Imagine Peace Tower," in Iceland after the exhibition ends, where it will be sent, along with wishes from around the world, in a beam of light into the stratosphere above the Arctic Circle.

This exhibition is being held as a pre-opening event for the gallery space by P3 art and environment, which was launched in 1989 as part of the 400th anniversary of the founding of Mt. Mankiyama Tochoji Temple and works on art and environmental projects. The official opening is scheduled for April 25th, the 25th anniversary of the organization's founding.
