■ "A new era of Kyoto aesthetics" born in collaboration with “GO ON”
Kyoto's traditional crafts have a long history behind them, and have developed their own unique aesthetic sense and sensibilities. Our hotel's "a new era of Kyoto aesthetics" refers to a modern beauty born from cutting-edge initiatives that preserves the spirit and techniques of the traditional crafts that have underpinned Japanese culture, while also drawing out new possibilities.

Inside the hotel, all members of "GO ON," a project unit made up of six successors of traditional craftsmen, have come together to create original works that breathe new life into Kyoto traditions.

This is the first time that all members of "GO ON" have collaborated with a hotel, and each piece is one-of-a-kind, created exclusively for Hotel Okura Kyoto Okazaki Bettei. Enjoy the awakening of your sensibilities as you come into contact with the artisans' meticulous handiwork.

GO ON
Established in 2012, this project unit is made up of six successors of Kyoto's traditional crafts, with the aim of spreading new value in traditional Japanese crafts. Exploring the future and considering possibilities, they continue to work beyond the world of crafts.

■A space to enjoy as if strolling
The lobby area (1st floor) makes use of the horizontal continuity characteristic of Japanese architecture, with no partitions in the space, creating a gentle connection that allows you to make the most of the view outside the windows and experience the modern beauty and handiwork of Kyoto that is scattered throughout the building.
*Entrance
Original lighting made from "Kanamami Tsuji," made by artisans who carefully weave each delicate copper wire, adds color to the entrance. When the light is on, the delicate shadows of the wire mesh are highlighted.
*Reception
A calligraphy piece titled "Houmei Choyo" (Fengming Morning Sun) by Kawao Tomoko, a Kyoto-based calligrapher active both in Japan and abroad, adds elegance to the space. The drips and splashes of ink are striking.
*From the Reception to the Guest Rooms and Dining Room
The wall leading from the reception to the guest rooms and dining room is decorated with Nishijin-ori fabric by Hosoo, a long-established Nishijin-ori textile manufacturer. Created using unique techniques, the Nishijin-ori fabric's sparkle stands out, elevating the space to a more elegant atmosphere and creating the impression of gently embracing the hearts of guests excited about their stay at the hotel.
*Elevator Hall
The wall is adorned with bamboo bamboo cages by Kochosai Kosuge, a long-established creative bamboo craft manufacturer. Each bamboo lattice, meticulously crafted, exudes the warmth of natural materials and invites guests into a more private space.
*Japanese Garden
In addition to being able to feel close to the abundant nature of the adjacent "Shinshu Otaniha Okazaki Betsuin (Higashi Honganji Okazaki Betsuin)," the hotel also offers a beautiful experience of Kyoto's four seasons with its new Spring Garden, decorated with plum and cherry blossoms, and the Autumn Garden, where you can enjoy autumn leaves.

Entrance
■Guest rooms that harmonize with the surrounding landscape
There are 60 guest rooms, designed with the theme of a mountain villa nestled in Higashiyama. The guest rooms are finished in a way that allows you to enjoy the textures and natural feel of the materials, such as Nishijin-ori fabric by Hosoo, which uses a unique weaving technique to create a three-dimensional representation of the lake's surface as seen from the mountain lodge, and staggered shelves resembling a tokonoma alcove, with pillars made from logs of the fine Kitayama cedar. Guests are also greeted by welcome art made with karakami paper, and in the suite rooms, a work by calligrapher Tomoko Kawao. Furthermore, the lighting fixtures in the guest room corridors, each bearing the room number, are made using the same techniques as the tea caddies made by Kaikado, Japan's oldest manufacturer of handmade tea caddies, and will acquire a deeper, more beautiful appearance with age.
