NARS launches new Guy Bourdin-inspired collection with lipstick case and heart pouch

Oct 8, 2013

Cosmetic brand NARS will release a holiday collection inspired by fashion photographer Guy Bourdin.

The color collection, which will be released on November 8th, will feature a lineup of 17 colors across 4 items. All items are available in Bourdin's signature colors, including 5 lipsticks (3,200 yen) that combine matte and glossy finishes, and 5 single eyeshadows (2,625 yen).

A limited-edition holiday gift set will be released on November 22nd. Items include "Fling" (6,720 yen), which contains 2 lipsticks and 2 lip pencils in a red lip-shaped case, and "Voyer" (5,460 yen), which contains 5 mini-sized eyeliners in a red and black heart-designed pouch. Also available exclusively at self-select shops such as Isetan Mirror are "One Night Stand" (7,875 yen), a cheek palette combining blush and bronzer, and "Promiscuous" (5,460 yen), a pouch featuring five popular mini lipsticks in a blue lipstick design.

Bourdin was one of the most representative fashion photographers of the 20th century, active in French Vogue and other publications since the mid-1950s. His talent blossomed further in the 1970s, establishing himself as an image maker evoking death and sensuality. Even after his death in 1991, many of his collections, including "Exhibit A" (2001) and "In Between" (2010), have been revived.

NARS founder François Nars decided to become a makeup artist after encountering Bourdin's work in French Vogue and Harper's Bazaar as a child.
