As part of the "WOW20 Project," commemorating the 20th anniversary of the founding of WOW, a visual design studio with bases in Tokyo, Sendai, and London, the "WOW Showcase - The Necessity of Daily Necessities" exhibition, showcasing new product development initiatives, began on April 14th at EYE OF GYRE in Omotesando, Tokyo.
The product label "BLUEVOX!", launched in 2015, is based on the theme of "daily non-essentials," and pursues the existence of objects that truly enrich our lives through WOW's unique aesthetic. The project incorporates the attention to detail and techniques WOW has cultivated in visual design, such as form, texture, and lighting, in 3D data into real objects.
In addition to previously released items, the exhibition will also feature new products. In addition to the exhibits that express ideas and passions that go beyond the form and materiality of each piece, such as "A SQUARE," a clutch and tote bag whose structural form is created by folding a single piece of leather and is decorated with gold and silver leaf and lacquer; "SHIZUKU," an ultra-thin lacquerware created by combining new techniques from Japanese lacquer artisans with cutting-edge technologies such as 3D printers; and "AXIS," a minimalist, timeless stool created by stripping down to the utmost limit using current technology, the main space will feature a first-time exhibition of the concept for the new work "LUX," as well as a novel lighting installation that projects changing light patterns across the entire space using a transparent LCD.
This exhibition will allow visitors to experience the expansion of new visions throughout the space through functional artworks.
