AKB48's Yuko Oshima was born on October 17, 1988, in Tochigi Prefecture. She began her entertainment career in 1996 as a child actress, joining the Central Children's Theater. In 2005, she joined the idol group Doll's Vox, sound-produced by Toshihiko Takamizawa of THE ALFEE, and released one single. In February 2006, she passed the "Second Wave AKB48 Additional Member Audition" and transferred from her previous agency to Office 48. In April of the same year, she made her performance debut on the opening day of Team K's performance at the AKB48 Theater. She placed second in the "AKB48 13th Single Senbatsu General Election" in July 2009 and won first place in the "AKB48 17th Single Senbatsu General Election" in June 2010, beating Atsuko Maeda. She is currently the captain of Team K.

She is also active as an actress, and made her film debut in "Teke Teke" in 2009. She played a major character in the film "Ushijima the Loan Shark" released last year, for which she won the "Cut Above Award for Outstanding Debut" at the 6th JAPAN CUTS!, North America's largest Japanese film festival.
