YSL launches Mondrian-inspired eyeshadow palette

Apr 2, 2014

Yves Saint Laurent Beaute has announced its new five-color eyeshadow palette, the Couture Couleur Palette (11 colors in total, 7,800 yen). The palette design features a geometric pattern inspired by the "Mondrian Look" created by brand founder Yves Saint Laurent in 1965. Each item is inspired by the brand's archive collections or a story related to Yves. Eight colors will be released on June 6th, including "NO.1 TUXEDO," a set of lustrous blacks and grays; "NO.4 SAHARIENNE," a safari-inspired blend of sand and other tones; and "NO.10 LUMIERES MAJORELLE," which incorporates the vibrant colors of Saint Laurent's beloved Moroccan gardens. Three colors will be released in July, including "NO.11 BALLET RUSSES," inspired by the legendary collection that is said to have changed the course of fashion. One feature of this palette is that it allows you to enjoy multiple patterns. Apply the base color on the top left to the entire eyelid and the highlight color on the top right under the brow, then add the three accent colors as desired. Alternatively, apply the center color along both the upper and lower eyelids from the outside to the inside, blending with an eye blender brush for a smoky, bold look. You can also create a colorful, sheer look by applying the bottom left color to the crease of your upper and lower eyelids like an eyeliner, and blending the bottom right color from the inside of your upper eyelid to the center. Wetting the tip or adding a drop of water to the palette will transform the texture into that of a cream eyeshadow.
