Daikanyama T-Site will be holding the "Daikanyama BOOK DESIGN Exhibition," an exhibition of outstanding book designs, from May 1st to May 25th at the store.
The exhibition will select around 30 works with outstanding book designs from books published in Japan and abroad in 2013, and will be exhibited and sold in the store's gallery. The selection criteria do not place emphasis on the content of the books, but rather on book designs that make the content of the book more appealing, and the books on display have been carefully selected by the concierges of Daikanyama T-Site. The books to be introduced include "DUAL 1" and "DUAL 2," which were all handmade and won second place at the 6th International Photobook Festival Kassel, a competition for the best art book held annually in Germany; "Ping Pong," a book featuring photos from a table tennis photographer's collection that becomes a mini table tennis table when the cover is unfolded and the spine is raised; and "an Inquiry into Meaning and Truth and More..." by Dutch author Thomas Rath, which features colorful typography and graphic design. The exhibition will showcase the appeal of "book design," which can only be found in physical paper books, such as binding, printing, and bookbinding, and cannot be experienced with e-books.
