Actress Uma Thurman was born on April 29, 1970, in Boston, Massachusetts, USA. At the age of 16, she moved to New York alone to study acting at the Professional Children's School. She subsequently gained fame as a fashion model and made her film debut in 1987 in "Midnight Girl." She gained attention in 1989 in "The Baron" and was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Quentin Tarantino's hit film "Pulp Fiction." In 1991, she married Gary Oldman while filming "Robin Hood," but they later divorced. In 1997, she appeared in the sci-fi film "Gattaca," and married co-star Ethan Hawke the following year.
