Following on from our introduction to the accommodation and bridal facilities at TRUNK (HOTEL), which opens on May 13th, we now bring you information on its gourmet and shopping options. The hotel has five gourmet and shopping spots: the dining area "TRUNK (KITCHEN)," the skewered fried food restaurant "TRUNK (KUSHI)," the cafe and bar "TRUNK (LOUNGE)," the deli, bento box, souvenirs, amenities, and other goods sold at "TRUNK (STORE)," and the exhibition space "101 (POP-UP)."
"TRUNK (KITCHEN)" is TRUNK (HOTEL)'s all-day dining restaurant, open from 7am to 10pm, where you can enjoy brunch and dinner produced by executive chef Yuji Tani. The "One Soup and Three Side Dishes Brunch" (two Japanese and Western dishes, ¥2,800 each), developed with a global perspective, is a must-try even for non-guests. This healthy dish, featuring innovative arrangements of Japanese ingredients like hijiki seaweed, is sure to be a soul-boosting dining experience. For the coming season, we recommend a seat on the lush terrace.
"TRUNK (KUSHI)" is a skewer restaurant created in collaboration with TRUNK (HOTEL) and Yuji Higuchi of the renowned yakiniku restaurant "Sumibi Yakiniku Yuji." It offers a unique menu, serving bancha tea and dumplings during the day and sake and skewers in the evening. In addition to standing bar and counter seating, the restaurant also features sunken kotatsu seating, creating an atmosphere sure to appeal to foreign visitors. From noon every day, exquisite dumplings (two skewers for ¥500) are sold for just 500 yen, making it a popular spot for a break from shopping and a great souvenir. The cafe and bar "TRUNK (LOUNGE)" was created as a third place for TRUNK (HOTEL), and can be used as a meeting spot for non-guests, nomad workers, and local residents alike. It offers 80 seats, including comfortable sofas and casual counter seating for drinks. In addition, a corner of the floor will house "101 (POP-UP)," where visitors can experience different exhibitions. "TRUNK (STORE)" offers a selection of delicious deli and bento boxes that can only be purchased here, including sandwiches (5 varieties, 598 yen each) from Yoyogi-Uehara's popular "Potasta," rice balls (5 varieties, 200 yen each) from Ebisu's additive-free dining restaurant "Watarigarasu," and freshly baked bread (6 varieties, 180 to 320 yen each) from "GARDEN HOUSE CLAFTS." In addition to food items such as coffee, dorayaki, and organic popsicles curated by TRUNK (HOTEL)'s socializing function, the store will also sell a selection of gifts such as condiments that evoke traditional Japanese culture, calligraphy sets, and sparklers.
